Terms & Conditions
  1. These terms and conditions apply to any work done for the Client by Academic Owl Editing.
  2. The Client is under no obligation to offer Academic Owl Editing work; neither is Academic Owl Editing under any obligation to accept work offered by the Client.
  3. Academic Owl Editing will provide services as mutually agreed, confirmed in writing by the Client.
  4. The work will be carried out unsupervised at such times and places as determined by Academic Owl Editing, using their own equipment.
  5. Academic Owl Editing confirms that they are self-employed, are responsible for their own income tax and insurance contributions, and for paying VAT (where applicable).
  6. The Client will pay Academic Owl Editing a fee per hour OR per printed page OR an agreed flat fee for the job, plus VAT where applicable.
  7. The completed work will be delivered on or before the date agreed, for the agreed fee, which will be based on the description of the work required as agreed upon at the outset.
  8. If, however, on receipt of the item to be worked on or at an early stage, it becomes apparent that significantly more work is required than had been anticipated in the preliminary discussion/brief, Academic Owl Editing may renegotiate the fee and/or the deadline.
  9. Similarly, if, during the term of the work, additional tasks are requested by the Client, Academic Owl Editing may renegotiate the fee and/or the deadline.
  10. If the project is lengthy, Academic Owl Editing may invoice periodically for completed stages.
  11. Any content created by Academic Owl Editing as part of the editing process will become the copyright of the Client, unless otherwise agreed.
  12. The nature and content of the work will be kept confidential and not made known to anyone other than the Client without prior written permission.
  13. Academic Owl Editing does not warrant that the services will be delivered 100% free of errors. However, if the work carried out by Academic Owl Editing is unsatisfactory, Academic Owl Editing will rectify it in their own time and at their own expense.
  14. Unless agreed otherwise at the outset, payment will be made within 15 days of receipt of Academic Owl Editing’s invoice.
  15. The information that the Client and Academic Owl Editing may keep on record is covered by the terms of the General Data Protection Regulation. No more such information will be held than is necessary, at any time, to comply with those terms.
  16. Either the Client or Academic Owl Editing has the right to terminate a contract for services if there is a serious breach of its terms.
  17. If Academic Owl Editing has made a substantial contribution to the copyediting/proofreading/project management of the work, they will be entitled to receive one free copy of the work.
  18. Academic Owl Editing may use the Client’s name in their promotional material.
  19. These Terms and Conditions and any agreement between Academic Owl Editing and the Client are governed by the laws of Sweden.
